NOTE: Book Court in Cobble Hill sold me this book before it was officially released; I think I bought it largely because I found that aspect of the sale sort of titillating. But it was great, actually — it was to typical Roth as condensed milk is to typical milk: nice, different, dense, satiating in a small dose. Wasn’t that a fantastic metaphor? No? Whatever. If you’re into Roth, but have been off him of late for whatever reason, you should totally read this book; optimally after buying my copy.
According to Amazon, this book retails for $22.00— $11 more than what I’m asking — and ranks a respectable 44,330 in sales. The primary text of The Humbling is credited to Philip Roth; Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Trade put this particular 160-page hardcover edition out on Oct. 21, 2009, with Dewey Decimal number 813.54. The ISBN is 9780547239699.
